The Black Rose (Race)

Advocating for racial justice and confronting the systemic inequalities that affect migrants of colour

The Black Rose – The Rose of Race

The Black Rose is one of Across the Border CIC’s core pillars, dedicated to advocating for racial justice and confronting the systemic inequalities that disproportionately affect migrants of colour. This strand centres the lived experiences, voices and leadership of racially minoritised communities, creating spaces for dialogue, empowerment and collective action.

Through this pillar, we host events that challenge dominant narratives and amplify underrepresented stories. One example is our collaboration with the Afroniche Society (ANS), where we co-organised a film screening spotlighting creatives from migrant communities of colour. The event not only showcased powerful storytelling but also provided a platform for filmmakers and speakers to discuss their journeys, inspirations and the structural barriers they navigate.

The Black Rose exists to foster solidarity, raise awareness and create culturally affirming spaces where migrant communities of colour are seen, heard and celebrated — while actively addressing the systemic injustices that shape their realities.
