Jessica Baker - Literary Florist
Jessica holds a background in International Relations, Visual Arts and Arabic from Durham University, where her research focused on Syrian refugees’ livelihood security and the role of education in preventing generational inequality. She has supported refugee outreach and education initiatives in Egypt and Jordan, contributing to policy monitoring and multilingual digital platforms. Jessica combines research, creativity and advocacy to champion dignity, opportunity and cross-cultural dialogue within displaced communities.

Aurelia Blohorn- Creative Florist
Aurelia is a placement student from Regent’s University London, supporting Across the Border across the creative strands of our services. She contributes to the development and delivery of our art and creative workshops, bringing strong youth insight and fresh perspective to our programmes. With an academic background in Art History, Aurelia combines critical understanding with hands-on creativity. Her artistic sensibility and passion for culture enrich our workshops, helping to create engaging, inclusive spaces where young people can explore identity, expression and storytelling through art.

Alanna Okunneye - Editorial Florist
Alanna is a dedicated Medical student at Imperial with a desire to strike systemic change. Her commitment to human rights extends to a focus on challenging inequalities within the healthcare sector, ensuring that women - particularly those from marginalised communities - receive adequate care. Beyond Medicine, Alanna is a powerful voice for overlooked minorites, using her eloquence and sharp analytical skills to shed a light on social issues.

Dawa - Educational Florist
Dawa is a placement student currently pursuing an MSc in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Portsmouth, UK, supporting our masterclasses designed to help international students navigate life and study in the UK. Alongside his teaching, Dawa has also worked with youth groups, NGOs and community organisations to coordinate education, youth engagement and community programmes. Through his experience in education and community work, he brings valuable insight and a supportive perspective to our programmes, helping international students feel more confident as they adapt to studying and living in the UK.

Richy - Educational Florist
Richy is a placement student currently pursuing an MSc in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Portsmouth, UK. He supports the delivery of our masterclasses designed to help international students navigate life and study in the UK. Originally from Bangladesh, Richy is interested in improving access to education and supporting international students as they adapt to new learning environments. His interests in collaborative learning and student engagement bring valuable perspective to our programmes, helping create supportive and inclusive learning spaces.

Mary - Educational Florist
Mary is a placement student currently pursuing an MSc in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Portsmouth, UK. She supports the delivery of our masterclasses designed to help international students navigate life and study in the UK. Originally from Ghana, Mary began her journey in education at the University of Education, Winneba and has worked as an educator since 2015. Guided by a strong commitment to student success, she believes that with the right leadership and support systems, every student can thrive. Her passion for education and collaboration helps create supportive learning spaces for international students.

Our Bees ATB’s twist on Community Ambassadors
Idman Mahmoud
Founding member and Justice BeeIdman is a co-founding member of Across the Border and played a key role in shaping the organisation’s vision and direction. As a Community Ambassador, she helps cultivate inclusive, welcoming spaces that reflect the organisation’s values. She co-hosts and organises Borderless Spaces alongside her co-host Andra, creating platforms for dialogue, connection and community building. Through this work, she supports meaningful conversations and safe spaces for shared experiences. An aspiring lawyer and current student, Idman is deeply committed to community advocacy and social justice. Her passion for equity and representation is reflected in both her academic path and her continued dedication to grassroots community work.

Andra is a dedicated and inspiring member of our team. As co-host of Borderless Spaces, she works to create thoughtful, inclusive environments where meaningful conversations can thrive. She brings warmth, curiosity and a strong sense of care to the communities she supports. Currently a student at Cambridge University, Andra is deeply engaged in her academic and student communities, ensuring that youth voices are represented and heard. Passionate about culture, dialogue and connection, she brings creativity, insight and a strong appreciation for diverse perspectives to everything she does.
