Textiles and Memory
Session 2 of Threads of Us invited participants to explore how fabric carries memory of migration, family, place, and time. Inspired by global textile traditions such as Palestinian tatreez and West African kente, attendees reflected on what “home” means to them through tactile, hands-on creation.
Using fabric scraps, beads, collage, and personal materials, participants created individual memory pages that blended texture, colour, and storytelling. Each artwork became part of a shared community scrapbook and a growing archive celebrating collective journeys of identity and belonging.
The session offered a relaxed, welcoming space for reflection, creativity, and cross-cultural connection, proving that every thread truly tells a story.
